A thought-provoking tour for the curious and inquisitive traveller
and interested in the early history of the Clare Valley.

Detailed, fully-narrated stories of the Valley and its early pioneers, and the plight of the Ngadjuri people, traditional owners of the land. We'll visit the first abode of Clare the grave John Horrocks,
Sevenhill Cellars is a revered site of sacramental wine and spiritual character that was built by the society of Jesuits in 1851. Hear their stories, see vines 160-year-old,  tour of the church crypt, grounds.

We travel into the Historic / Heritage township of Mintaro. Settled and established circa 1847 as an overnight stop for Ox Drays carting the rich Copper ore of the Burra Mines to Port Wakefield, Mintaro is also known for its world class slate, home to 4 churches including the first Jesuit church built in Australia.

We'll find time for a winery lunch, we are in wine country.

Your choice of Visiting Martindale Hall or Bungaree Station.

Bungaree was settled in Dec 1841 by the Hawkers Bros. Still held in the Hawker family this station was once at the forefront of the Australian wool industry.The heritage shearing shed is still in use dating back to the 1840s'

Martindale Hall. A journey back in time reliving the lifestyles of wealthy pastoralists. A fully guided tour of this Georgian-style mansion built in 1879 by country squire Edward Bowman.  He surrounded his home with a polo ground, cricket pitch, racecourse and a boating lake, entertaining the A list of Society in SA. Bowman, fell victim to the droughts of the 1890s' and sold the property to William Mortlock in 1891. Martindale was a wedding present for his wife, Rosie.

We then travel the backroads from Mintaro to the picturesque Skillogalee Valley, passing the sprawling homestead of Hughes Park, another story of our early history, on our way home.
